About the role

This is a fast-paced operations role where you will coordinate transport movements from order receipt through to delivery, ensuring customers receive outstanding service while maximising network efficiency.

You will work closely with customers, carriers, and internal stakeholders to manage daily freight requirements, optimise transport schedules, resolve operational issues, and proactively manage capacity and service risks.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day transport service demands of customer sites from receipt of transport orders to allocation to carriers, execution, and receipt of PoD per set standard operating procedures
  • Manage exceptions, demand and capacity peaks, troughs, and risks outside pre-defined standard operating procedures to ensure customer expectations are met at agreed cost
  • Use TMS (Transport Management System) to schedule, load build, capacity, route and drop routine optimise transport orders before allocating to carriers
  • Provide accurate and timely advice and information on transport order status to customers in an effective manner
  • Proactively manage transport order allocation, acceptance and execution processes with carriers to ensure timely pick-up and delivery of products
  • Maintain carrier rate schedules, site information, route information and other master data integrity with regards to transport order receipt, allocation and execution
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders (carriers and customers)

About you

  • Recent graduate in supply chain/international business or 2+ years of relevant supply chain experience.
  • Knowledge of New Zealand road transport industry and carriers.
  • Demonstrated customer service focus, including the ability to adapt service level and style to meet the differing needs of customers
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, particularly the ability to communicate with multiple carriers staff with varying degree of communication capabilities
  • Excellent self-management skills, including working effectively without direct supervision, managing and organising fluctuating workloads in sometimes stressful situations
  • Ability to establish priorities and meet deadlines in line with good customer service principles
  • Ability to work well within a team environment and establish working relationships inside and outside the organisation
